Cascina Val Liberata
This organic and biodynamic farm in Monferrato is the passion project of Deirdre O’Brien and Maurizio Caffer, who traded London for rural Piemonte nearly a decade ago and haven’t looked back. After falling in love with the landscape, the duo behind Cascina moved to Piedmont and restored their farmhouse, planting vineyards of Nebbiolo, Slarina, and Grignolino along the way.
Cascina is focused on organic farming and biodynamic practices and we’re featuring their Anarkoide, made with Grignolino grapes typical of the Piedmont region. This red is light and fresh, fruit-forward, with nice tannins and a rustic feeling structure to it. Aged 10 months in cement and not fined or filtered, it’s alive and old at the same time!
