Fruit Loops is a new wine series for Claus, named after the diversity of aromas found in the wine. Blaufrankisch, Cabernet Franc, and Syrah were blended, carbonically and semi-carbonically macerated, and spent some time in an amphora. Fruit Loops Rot, like its white sibling, is a little wild and fruity. Expect blackcurrant, raspberry, and cherry flavours, as well as a hint of spice.
Claus Preisinger
A surfer at heart, Claus has been making wine on the north shore of Lake Neusiedl in the Burgenland town of Gols since 2002. He converted the vineyards and winery to biodynamic production in 2006, and is Respekt Biodyn certified. Claus vinifies mostly domestic grape varieties such as Blaufränkisch, Zweigelt, Grüner Veltliner and St. Laurent, supplemented by Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc from both the west and east sides of Lake Neusiedl. Biodynamic faming, fermentation with indigenous yeast, no fining, no filtration and super low (often zero) amount of sulphur added, that’s his minimalistic approach which is also perceived in his famous simple etiquettes: his signature on a white background. Those white labels represent the elegant, vibrant, lively wines. Claus ages many of his wines in amphora rather than wooden barrels, which he views as a conscious step back, a reduction to the essential - the grape and the soil. Reduction, minimalism, and a free spirit are the guiding themes of Claus Preisinger.
