Remarkable Gewürztraminer from a parcel cultivated on the Grand Cru Kirchberg De Barr on very hard limestone. Macerated in whole bunches for 7 days it manages to keep the florals of the varietal in check with a beautiful salinity and freshness. Wonderful balance.

Domaine Goepp

The Goepp family Vineyard was founded in 1950. The brothers Clement and Sylvain have recently taken over the estate with a goal to preserve the family heritage while transitioning to organic agriculture (they have been fully certified since 2020).

Domaine Goepp’s vineyards span across three municipalities in Alsace at the foot of Mont Sainte-Odile: Barr, Bernardswiller and Heiligenstein. Their vineyards include some truly beautiful grand cru plots, which seem to glisten in the sun as you view them across the horizon. The large mosaic of Alsatian grape varietals are represented on the domain: Riesling, Pinot Gris, Muscat, Pinot Noir, Klevener de Heiligenstein are meticulously. The vines are all between 30 and 60 years old and the soil consists of clay limestone and are all harvested by hand to avoid damaging the grapes during harvest.   The Goepp brothers eschew all additives in order to preserve the purity of the grapes. The wines are aged for several months, in tank or barrel depending on the different blends. Their cellar is a blend of tradition and modernity which is reflected in their wines: shiny stainless steel tanks sit next to ornately engraved traditional foudres, some dating back a hundred years. The brothers are part of a growing movement in Alsace to preserve traditions and terroir, and to do it naturally. The future of Alsatian wine is bright, and the Goepp brothers are at the forefront.
