80% Ploussard, 15% Trousseau, and 5% Savagnin sourced from the renowned Côte de Feule vineyard in Pupillin. With careful handpicking, half of the grapes undergo natural whole bunch fermentation, while the other half an extended 6-month maceration in old oak barrels.
The resulting blend truly showcases Patrice's expertise. The wine is meticulously crafted, spending time in both stainless steel and acacia wood before being bottled without filtration. It follows a minimalist approach, with no added sulphites.
Lively wild berries, earthy notes, and a touch of damp forest aromas come together with juicy acidity. As you taste it, the palate unfolds with textural and savory characteristics, leading to a finish highlighted by hints of white pepper, clove, and a spicy edge.
Set amongst the lush landscape of Mesnay, is the home and vineyards of natural winemaker, Patrice Beguet. Drawing inspiration from his love of jazz and the diverse scenery of Jura; his range of wines is electric, textural, and complex.
Patrice left a busy life working in IT, in Paris to return to Jura, where he was born, and pursue his dream of making natural wine. He loves this region because whilst it is well known for wine production, the landscape is not dominated by vineyards. There are mountains, fields, and forests. Patrice lives and works amongst this beautiful greenery with his two young children.
Patrice strongly believes in minimal intervention and healthy living.
When it comes to organics he says “I will never use any synthetic products. Not for me, my employees, my children, my neighbors or my customers”.
We first encountered these wines at the infamous natural wine shop in Arbois, Les Jardins de St Vincent, run by Stéphane Planche. Stéphane always has his ear to the ground on the most new and exciting natural wine projects in Jura and beyond. A big inspiration for our shop, it brings us joy to see these bottles grace our shelves.
